Wars & History

The history of the Crowned Veil is written in extraction and submission — from the fall of the First Brine to the draining of Earth and the war that followed. Each catastrophe became, in time, tradition; each atrocity became furniture in the house of empire. This is the history the Crown allows to be remembered.

The Fall of the First Brine

Before the stars hardened, the First Brine was an oceanic reality ruled by the Dem-Gods, carried by the Aetherwyrm God and its Voidweaver vessels. Its fall is the oldest mystery in Salt — whether by war, divine betrayal, an Unsalted breach, or a continuity device built too early. What remains of it surfaces only as black salt, the Brine Crown, and grief no one can name.

The Desiccation of Earth

The Bastion Communion did not invade Earth with ships alone — it arrived with systems that looked like gods: Sky Yokes that lifted oceans, continent-scale Brine Leeches, and Thirst Pylons that pulled salt from water, air, soil, and living bodies.

Oceans lowered, coastlines died, weather broke, and near the Pylons humans forgot songs, names, childhood places, languages, and their own faces. The Desiccation was ecological catastrophe and memory genocide at once.

The First Salt War

Humanity fought back in what the empire calls the Pacification of the Blue Relic and humans call the First Salt War. From studying the salt the machines processed came the Salt Awakening — memory rifles, ghost shields, salt-glass engines, atmospheric pressure blades.

Humanity still lost: the empire held orbit, the Voidweavers shattered fleets, Morcant erased its leaders, and Omoron had the patience of an immortal system. The war did not end because humanity stopped fighting. It ended because one man decided extinction was not resistance.

The Great Surrender

Aren Kaelvorix — hero, then the Kneeling Flame — surrendered when Earth was nearly broken. He accepted imperial recognition, founded House Kaelvorix, and bound humanity to the Brine Covenant. He gave Omoron Earth's oceans.

But before he knelt, he hid Earth's heart: the Mother Wells, concealed beneath the dead seabed. To loyalists he saved humanity; to rebels he sold it. To the Mother Wells, he may be remembered differently than all of them.

The Age of Apparent Stability — and the First Cracks

The Bastion Communion became normal. Atrocity became tradition. The Houses learned to hate, need, and obey the Crown in the same breath. Tyranny became civilization's furniture.

Then human refusal, mixed bloodlines, black-salt inheritance, and forgotten divine powers began to threaten the central logic of Omoron's rule — and the immortal who consumes the future realized the future might contain a vessel he cannot consume.
