The Crowned Veil
The main known universe, and the stage of the saga. It contains the Bastion Communion, the Ten Great Houses, hundreds of inhabited planets, salt reefs around dead worlds, ocean-harvest worlds, tomb moons, the Brine Roads, Voidweaver nests, temple planets, black-salt quarantine zones, memory-vault systems, and forge stars.
Its political center is the Bastion Communion. Its symbolic center is the Brine Crown. Its economic center is the salt standard. Its military center is the Voidweaver fleets. Its spiritual wound is the memory of the First Brine.
The Hollow Veil
A dead or partially dead universe where salt cannot hold stable memory. It is used for exile, prison routes, discarded experiments, and forbidden containment.
People who return from the Hollow Veil often suffer self-loss: they remember facts about their lives but cannot feel ownership over them. They know their names without believing them.
The Red Veil
A violent Veil bound to war salt, living battlefields, blood storms, and aggressive gravity. Red-salt deposits near Red Veil scars tend to produce violent cultures and unstable armies that fight long after the reason for fighting is gone.
The Black Veil
A forbidden Veil tied to black salt, dead gods, erased histories, and events that occurred before stable time. House Xonthos studies its fragments from a distance; the Living Oracle can taste its traces.
Most beings who directly touch black salt drawn from the Black Veil are destroyed — or worse, noticed by things older than divinity.
The First Brine
The ancient mythic reality believed to have existed before current space hardened into stars. In the First Brine, space itself was oceanic, memory moved like tide, and the Dem-Gods ruled cosmic principles.
Salt did not store memory in the First Brine because salt and memory were the same substance. Death was not permanent unless memory was consumed. The Aetherwyrm God comes from this age, and the Brine Crown may be a living remnant of it. The fall of the First Brine is the greatest ancient mystery in Salt.
The Unsalted Dark
Not death — unrecording. The Unsalted Dark is a region, force, or anti-reality where salt cannot remember. Names vanish from record, maps fail, bodies remain but identities dissolve, and ships return crewed by people no one recognizes.
Even black salt becomes unstable here. Religion calls it what existed before memory learned to defend itself. Science calls it an entropy field hostile to informational continuity. The oldest gods, it is whispered, were running from it.
